Hemi, it was an extremely good show thousands of classic cars and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Lots of "old racers and old race cars." The Ramchargers were there, with their new book, and the High and Mighty recreation. Beside their autograph table was the "Mopar Missile" with the guys who built and raced it. The next car was the duster of "Akron Arlene Vanke" he was there to see the car for the first time in 30 years. Many old stock and super stock cars. There were gassers, Hartsoe Brothers, Stone Woods and Cook and S&S Racing Team and their cars. Funny Cars, Altered cars and Top Fuel Cars. There was a cackle fest at 1:30 pm.
Friday night some went to Roxboro to race including Sox & Martin, Hartsoe Brothers and "the Mad Fenchman" maveric with Mr. Clem LaChance, 80 years old, at the wheel of the llittle 6 cylinder maveric. We have some current stock/superstock racers join us for a fun night of racing and then back to Henderson for a drag racing reunion. Mr. Bret Kepner is the Mc for the Sunday awards presentation and as always entertaining. He is on that stage and able to recall the races and racers from "years gone by". Sorry you missed the event. |
