Cutting to 3 days makes sense, but the bigger issue in my view is the points meets. NHRA is expensive. Track owners don't need NHRA to run a Top Dragster or super class deal. If the DDs think the non performance classes are the answer, I think they are going to be surprised. Most of the track owners are better business people than the VPs at Glendora. They know where to trim the fat. Why would you pay through the nose for NHRA to come in when you could payout more money and charge less then they do for a Division race?
Knowing Charley Bob's penchant to stir the pot, I wouldn't hold too tight to the rumours. I would think that a smart call would be to offer a GT stock that would allow older cars to use the newer style engines. It would spur sales and marketing opportunities for the aftermarket and the manufacturers. Racers could compete without having to spend 100k on a turnkey car. I would put a fuel injected Small block in my Nova if we coud do it. Tech already knows how to do this. I think the Marketing dept runs NHRA and they appear to be clueless. We need to spell it out for them. They must have been C students at best...... Quote:

Me......
I hope that Charley is right..... Who wouldn't want to be in the position of a ready-made business just dropped off at your door?????????? Do you think IHRA or any other sanctioning body would jump at the chance to have an additional income stream generated from the pre-1980 stockers????????? Maybe this is what IHRA needs to expand to the West Coast???? NHRA has shot themselves in the foot before

I find it hard to believe that NHRA would entertain the idea of using a 1980 Stock cutoff. That sounds almost borderline insane to do that to their racers. However.....could Nostalgia Stock Eliminator be very far away ?? Nostalgia Super Stock is popular right now.

I'd be willing to bet Charlie is sitting there laughing his ***** off at the panic and speculation he set off with his post.

Terry,I'm to the point I could give two turds less. The only thing I'll miss are the good people (racers and famalies and crew members, fans and the NHRA crews) at the events.I could be happy convertinting the car to street use and finishing my '65 Rambler s/w and driving that.I took the gremlin to about 5 or six car shows and had a great time at all of them. The car attracted quite a bit of attention and the people were great.

Tech has 2 sets of specs (as far as I know) One set for the engine/trans combo claimed and one set for the body claimed by the racer. If NHRA Stock was allowed to mix combos like SS/GT is now, I believe it would sure add more racers and more exciting combos. ![]() IHRA right now is halfway there with Stock GT. I would love to see them lift the cutoff year on the engine from 1979 to 2012 and allow 1955 to 2012 elligible bodies with any allowed elligible engine/trans combos... (within the corporate brands of course)
