I personally believe that this is a misguided attempt for NHRA to generate more money that is destined to back fire. I could be wrong. I would seem to make more sense to bring new sponsors on board rather that increasing fees for current supporters.

How long until they start to charge us for any banners we display in our pit areas, trailer signage, signage on race cars, or even...the contigency decals.

Bill, I am surprised they even allow any banners in the sportsman pits at national events at all. I would not be at all surprised to see them crack down on all displays in the pits, everywhere.

They're getting more greedy every single day. Greed kills everything it infests, sooner or later. I think we may be looking at sooner, rather than later.

Racers, support your local tracks, and your local combo races, it may be where a lot of your racing is done in the future, maybe all of it. It may even be where your next racing series comes from. Think about it.

All they are doing is driving sponsors away which hurts use all in the long run.

The greed just keeps getting worse and worse. The people on the NHRA board do not care about the sport, the racers or the manufacturers. All they care about is lining their pockets.

got news... they already "discourage" advertising / sales in the sportsman pits... ask MJ

anyway the sooner this ship sinks the better for us...then maybe SOMEONE (hint pat / alex etc.) would put together some decent races (with technical inspections, protests etc.) and we could race and support ourselves with the money not a bunch of leeches in glendora.

Remember when they banned sportsman racers from selling their car/team shirts off the back of the trailer. It was quite a while ago.Even the pros have to sign a contract to sell their merchandise.
These idiots could teach the Mafia some tricks of the trade. They're shameless.

I think they are grasping for straws now. If they are going to institute this new "idea" they maybe should have given notice that effective for the 2012 season "this is what the situation is gonna be".---give any interested manucacturers/suppliers/mail order companies etc. the opportunity to opt out if they so choose---- otherwise you are going to be charged X dollars to put up a banner in the future---I really wonder what would happen if Jegs/Summit/Moroso whoever if they put up a banner or banners WITHOUT paying the $6500---What is the NHRA gonna do about it???? Jegs or Summit could decide they do not want to be the title rights sponsor for the Sports or Bracket series now what is NHRA gonna do ??? Who ya gonna get to put up that kinda money??? Most large companies have already finalized their advertising budgets for 2012 so there really is not a lot of room to threaten a sponsor cuz ya just can't get a replacement in a moments notice.
As far as a removal expense that just does not exist . If you notice when the races are over the racers and others are out cutting them down as fast as they can. Yes some of the smaller banner advertisers retrieve their banners but most just walk away from them not worth trieng to save them they are either damaged or not worth the effort to do it.

Thats easy for the venders.......Unite and stop all forms of advertizing, with NHRA in dragster or sponsoring.... we as racers know where to go if there is something is needed, (for the most part)

Racers and Venders need to look at what those other two demostration orgs. are doing.

Making point known !
