Thanks for the trip back in time, Jim! There's something about Don Garlits in a front-motored dragster that's so much better than the show we get to see now. I was hoping the NHRA would do a Hot Rod Heritage Reunion close enough for me to attend!

If there's a more glorious sound, I haven't heard it.

Big is the man, no doubt. Have seen him race as far back as the mid-sixties, guys like Glidden are cut from the same cloth but it was Big that commanded attention where ever he went. Recall when Gainesville had the roller starters for the fuel cars and when he got his car going everybody went wild, just like at this Cacklefest. Very cool.

BOY, this is the way for an old man to the blood going on an early Saturday morning. Did not expect to see this on Stock/Superstock. Those were truly the days. The first time my son saw a front engine his comment was "why would you sit there?". Thanks for posting this. That old blown 392 sittin' there just puffing sure does bring back a lot of memories. Those sounds and sites I can almost feel that engine hit sittin' here in my recliner.

When we have the cackle fest at reunion in Henderson, NC each year we start out with Stock/SuperStock, work through the Gassers and top it off with front engine, blown top fuel. The crowd just moves down the street as the show continues.
