Default Re: Chassis shop

thats cool, we thought about doing the same thing with our 69 amx bracket car the chassis is there and will the top end would be close except our heads wouldn't be legal 291c's although being able to run the edelbrocks should help if they don't add to much wieght, it would be a matter of building a short deck 390 short block, and out of curiousity do they make you run the short deck motor in superstock or can you get away with a destroked 401 or a 70 390? and a carburator and bolting the origanel bumpers and hood back on. not trying to brake any records just have fun when divisionals come through

You could run the 1970 390 in your 69 car in SS/GT, or a 401. The 70 engine is rated more horsepower than the 69. The engine I race is a NHRA legal 69 390 ,as per the blueprint specs..I am happy when I run 3 to 4 tenths under the index, and I am constantly working to go quicker.
