Truman won back to back IHRA world championships in 1982 and 1983. Was the Car craft allstar driver of the year in stock in 83. He should be mentioned in the early years.

The guys in Division 1 were and are still some of the best.

Jim Hughes was another racer that sure could win the big races....

Many guys did well for a few years and could be listed but I don't think anyone could match the previous 3....

Alan Peters was always one of my favorites from this area....and way back....Truman Fields with his Hard Times Firebird.....

Some of you guys need to read the first Post/Question that was asked, then you can delete Kevin Helms from you list, and yes from 1990 to current he is one of the best!

For a man that doesn't run very much, I would give Randy Shepard recognition.

I have had the opportunity to watch him beat my Dad a few times at Brainerd and also myself atleast once.

We don't get a lot of chances to race up here, but Mr. Shepard is not an easy customer in the Orange Pumpkin...

There is a lot of really good ones out there, as have been posted.

It all depends on what you are gauging as the qualifications.

People I remember reading about was like Ronnie Sox. But we are talking about true Stockers campaigned on a regular basis.

Kevin Helms has won three championships. SE, Hughes, Truman, Calvert, Waldo, Keen, Broadbent, Bednaz, the list goes on.

It used to be the TRW All Stars where the best came together, as it still does with the Jegs All Stars. Alan Peters reign on Stock is quite impressive.

But it's just a stick shift, put one foot down, move hand, lift foot.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA......That's right, /SA, still have to move my hand
