I tried running the fender tag through some of the decoders I could find. They don't seem to know anything about an LO23 car, but it came through as a 383 car with an automatic. I don't know the pre-69 codes like the later ones. I don't want to post a photo of the fender tag as people tend not to publish the VIN. It looks like a legit VIN with a 999 paint code, although the VIN doesn't start with 297 like the ones I've seen of LO23 Darts. This starts with a 9. Is that a second run of Darts?

As far as I know, that is the current status sitting in a shop. I don't know the location, but was told it was central Florida somewhere. I asked if it was for sale, but didn't get a response from my Hemi connection. I would assume he would have inquired, so my guess is it's not for sale, or not cheap.

re the fender tag. not much to look for. has LO23 on lower LH corner. 999 paint code. 68 mopars do not have the rest of the vin on the fender tag. they have the body assembly number which starts with a 9. this number is found on the rad support. vins started showing up in 69 on the tag, rad support . Hemi a bodies, like all hemi cars, also have the torque boxes welded to the front leaf spring perch. These were on all of the convertibles and also on the big block dart and barracudas that year (which the lo23 and bo29 started as).

Here's Bob George's original, #14. The only one that I know of that still has the original motor. Bob was the second owner, buying it in 1969; then sold it in 1974 for $5800. It sat in storage in New York for years, then Bob bought it back in 2007. Suffice to say he paid more to get it back than he sold it for...

I have a photo of Bob's Dart taken by yours truly in September 1985 at a Northeast Hemi Owners Association meet in Hightstown, NJ. Appartantly it was taken out and shown at least once during that period of hibernation.

The Wayne Dokken Dart did run A or B/MP and held the record at one point in the 72-75 era. It was a regular in Div.II. Think it was Bill Tanners old dart and Wayne may have been the second owner after Bill quit racing around the end of 71. No connection to Wayne County Speed Shop that I remember. I have a really good shot from a magazine of Waynes dart on the bumper at Indy. I'll see if I can find it. Then I'll have to figure out how to post it.I
