I have to agree with Ed. You can vary the top bulb 2 to 3 hundredths either way and not "notice it" but it be enough to make anyone who IS leaving off the top bulb inconsistent (inconsistent enough not to win races anyway).
Mike, back when they did it last time, it was a varying tenth either way and that's why it was SO noticeable.
Tim, you do it this way and there it will not effect the people that count the tree.
Mike, as far as people leaving off the bottom bulb with adjustment, who cares. They are still leaving off the bottom bulb and EVERYONE has adjsutment, weather it is in your valvebody, rpm, or whatever.
The wrong or cheating here are the people who are leaving off the top bulb, so let's get to the matter at hand and vary the top bulb slightly to get rid of that.
Mike, you are pretty smart with most things but you surprise me here with some of your thoughts.
