Th350 trans brake

Now my problem is trying to get the stiffer springs on the spring retainer. The oem springs had to be removed with a screwdriver. And after the removal there is a tampered edge that the new springs will not go over. Is there a trick to getting them to pop over this, or do you just disreguard it all together and set the retainer on the springs and go with it. Any help would be awesome thanks.

I would take a countersink or maybe a cone shaped grinding stone and take away some of that peined over metal .Just leave enough to locate each spring..Once it's together, it won't matter.
I suspect they were made like that for the assembly line.
