Jason, our deepest sympathies to you and your family from the Gaffney family. We lost dad five years ago and it doesn't get any easier. Loosing a parent is hard nomatter when it happens; however in your case as it was for my brothers and I, we lost best friends as well. If you need to talk we are all here for you. Take care, talk soon.

John B. Silver, of Marlboro, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in Vassar Bros. Hospital, Poughkeepsie. He was 61. Son of the late Roy and Joyce (Gibbs) Silver, he was born March 9, 1951 in Marion, NC. John Silver was a family man who loved his family and enjoyed life. John was a man who shared his many talents with anyone who needed a hand. All who knew him will remember his love for fast cars and racing, and enjoyed belonging to the National Hot Rod Association Division 1. Although his sons were the best gifts in his life, his grandson, Vincent John, gave him more joy than words could express. He was a man of few words, but John’s actions spoke volumes and showed how caring he truly was. Survivors include his wife of forty years, Phylis E. Silver, at home; his two sons, John Brian and his wife Nettie of Marlboro, and Jason Michael and friend Eve Lincoln of Marlboro; grandson, Vincent John Silver of Marlboro; sister, Elizabeth Silver Morse and her husband Thomas of Fletcher, NC; nieces and nephews, Amy Seymour, Michael Seymour, and Shelley; and great-nephews, Ethan and Quintan Blackwood. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, November 1 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Prayers will be offered at 11 am on Friday, November 2 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
