A couple of years after I got home from RVN I was visiting my girlfriend in Atlanta and saw an ad for a '68 RR. It turned out to be a Hemi RR with a new trans. The owner was in Viet Nam and asked his parents to sell it so he could buy a new car thru the PX and pick it up when he returned.

Paid &1,300.00 for it and had to buy new tires........funny, it was probably the only car I've owned that never saw the drag strip.

After a year I sold it and made a $790.00 profit

Disappointment,,,,,,,,

Going to the Plymouth Dealer, only to be told, no 440 Engine is available in the 1968 Road Runner.
Only the 383, and a 'Special Order' 426 Street Hemi.

And 'No Bucket Seats'.

R/T,

Here is the information you wanted.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner

Production/Release Date......September 12, 1967

In late-1967, the Road Runner 383/335 HP was classed in B/S or B/SA.

NHRA Record
B/S......12.52 @ 113.12 MPH.........(1967 Camaro Z-28, 302/290 HP)
B/SA....12.92 @ 110.83 MPH........(1962 Dodge Model 440, 383/343 HP)

In 1968, the NHRA revamped the Classes, and the Road Runner was classed in E/S or E/SA.

On the 1968 Plymouth Road runner 383/335 HP -----

1968 was 'not' a good year at the Drag Strip.

In 'E/S' the Road Runner could not outrun the 68' Mopar 340 A-Bodies or 68' Oldsmobile Cutlass 350/325 HP.

And in 'E/SA' again it was the 68' 340 A-Bodies, or the 67' and 68' Camaro 'convertibles' with the 396/325 HP combinations.
