As far as the early 60,s corvette Lingenfelter and his partner from Kansas did have a early corvette superstocker, .Cant rememder his name, A friend of mine bought the car and we picked it up at O-Malleys shop .We raced the car in SS/MA with a 283 , The carb was the problem . It was a very neat racecar for back then .......

You were better off with the 245 hp 2x4 combo, or the 250 hp FI

If you were to run the FI combination, could you use the newer style stuff? (TPI)? or would that move over to GT? Thanks

Actually, the FI referred to Stock cars.
I still don't think they know what's the plenum, the manifold, the adapter etc, in regard to changing it for S/S. Tony Janes knows more about that.

If the 2 carb deal came that year that would be the way to go. Ron Talors 57 post car runs good with the two carbs, are the specs the same? Any intake in superstock but it has to have the stock opening or trottle body not sure what the old feul injection looks like,Tom

Whatever happened to Steve Green? Heard the story years ago that he drove "da
Grump" crazy when he first showed up at a Nat. Event with the 'Vette. Think Bill wanted to take it home but Steve wouldn't sell! Wade...don't know if this matters, but I think there was one...if not a couple of '60 or '61 Corvettes run in Stock Elim...let's say in the last 20-25 yrs. Saw them in Dragster...Not sure of carb(s)...but think the class was something like L-M-N Stock...could a twin-carb get down that low? Not sure of trans either...might have been stick. Weren't record-holders...but were go- ing a few rounds. The fact that they were out there impressed me...if 230hp...I think that combo was de-factored (in Stock) once...might have been the reason those cars were built. Going to say these were Midwest-area racers...but not sure? I know you're Super Stock...but figured I'd mention this as it was somewhat recent. Good luck on your build... |

We had the two four combination to try on our car but never got around to trying it . I remember one time while testing about a half a dozen of Griners converters we slipped a Q-jet off our Camaro onto the corvette ,now that made her a different ride !!! I remember talking with Don Holmes , who at the time was building a FI corvette stocker . Don thought he had figured out how to make one of them work ,, which we all know if any one could Don could .
