Shirl Greer created the most off the wall A/FXer of all time. It's kind of difficult to wrap my brain around this now that the price tag of collectible A-990 Super Stocks has shot to the moon. This car later received bobbed rear 1/4 panels and a giant moon roof type opening on the roof before being retired from competition and parted out / scrapped.

Anybody know the current status of The Trip A/FX car? It was originally an incredibly rare '64 aluminum paneled 4 speed car and was purchased by a high profile Florida collector in its altered wheelbase form a few years back.

Last I had heard the car was being restored to stock. Huge job.I saw the car run in the Malco funny car circut in June of 67 at Motor City Dragway. Shocked how fast it was 165+ mid 8's.but very squirrly.I have never seen a pic of the car with the dark blue windows it had that day.Others there were the Tom Sturm Corvair, Bloody Red Baron Dart and a bunch more.

I'm thinking the 63 Plymouth in the background was the tow vehicle considering the tow mirrors & was probably a wagon

I wonder how many a990 cars were hacked up to make awb cars?
