Bob I have a suggestion about the National opens, don't go. We even have heads up runs at the combo races in Bowling Green and at Ohio Valley. If you guys don't support them they will be forced to change. Let the track owners know how you feel. If they don't have many cars they will either cancel the race or put pressure on NHRA to change it. If they cancel it's no big deal because it's just a bracket race anyway.

The no heads up deal at the open is BS.
I personally like the one run Friday and two on Saturday deal. You have to understand that in division 7 we will have 120+ s/c and 120+ s/g cars, so there just isn't time to run all of those guys and run us twice on each day. Since there is only one run on Friday, you can really skip Friday and not miss the day of work. You then show up Saturday and still have two qualifying runs to dial the car in. Two qualifying runs is all we got at the Sonoma National event and nobody is really complaining about that.
If you are setting a record (which not many people do in the middle of July anyway) set the record Saturday morning, back it up Saturday afternoon and you are good to go. This is not a bad deal if you look at the entire picture.
Division 7 is a different animal than most other divisions because of the huge amount of .90 cars. Those guys get two runs Friday, one run Saturday morning and then first round Saturday afternoon. I like our schedule better than theirs.

Did I just read right? No heads up?

What's the point of having a S/SS car classification and engine specification then?

Sure, in a heads up race against Jim Wahl, I'd most likely lose with my old LeBaron. But it sure would be fun trying. To me, the whole point of S/SS is heads up racing. I love the engineering challenge in making the most with stock parts. Take that away and you may as well cut out the S/SS pages in the rule book and refer us to the bracket racing sections.

Maybe I should look into Comp. Steve Polhill, can you help me?
