Can someone help me answer this?!

One of the imports had that hill holding devise back in the 70's and I cannot remember what car it was (Subaru?) but it released when the clutch pedal was releasing. While holding the brake you pushed the button and it released with the clutch pedal stroke. I drove it and cannot remember... Uh no comments please... Especially you Blackstone! I am sure someone remembers.
