It is a well known fact that dealers were replacing the Motorcraft carbs with Holley's. My college roomate had either a 70 or 71 AMX that was having issues with the carb; the dealer replaced it with a Holley. |

The 69 AMX that I saw was at several IHRA races but I also saw NHRA qualifying sheets on Dragracecentral with the same AMX & driver listed. BTW only a few days ago in the NHRA class guide the Holley 780 cfm was a replacement carb for 290-390 ci engines. I worked for the local AMC dealer from 1969-1974 and I dont know of any swaping carbs that AMC approved . I am sure if the customer wanted to pay for a carb swap the dealer would let them know that his warranty was void
