I am not biased to any make or brand, nevertheless, the parts are catalog, over the counter items just like all other makes did at the time.
If you take a close look at the specs for many other makes, they also benefited of the same type of parts.

Is this some sort of prejudice on a car make that happens to be a minority in the classes?

How did the Chevy 283 got to use a 327 intake?
How do the Chevy 396/375 cam specs clear the piston dome without modification?
Ford engines using camshafts that were only available over the counter only?
C-4 bell housings that fit FE engines?
Mopar 273 with Edelbrock intakes; over the counter item?
Boss 351 with a Holley carb?
1967 Ford Fairlane 427/2x4 with an automatic?

The list can go on and on....

Are the other makes afraid of an AMC beating them in class?

Put them all back to OEM spec. If you can't buy a plate for it, its a super stocker.

I don't want to get into a discussion as to whether these particular items are bogus or not,
but I have a feeling this is not the end of this discussion.
You would think NHRA would know that you can't just add parts or classes ,and then take them away, causing a monetary setback for a group of racers.
You would think they would know something about legal precedent by now.
I think this is a dangerous road for NHRA to go down, that could have repercussions towards other non-assembly line parts...or whole cars , for that matter.

Well said Mark!
Especially if the data was submitted by the manufacturer and not a racer.

'nuther one, has anybody ran a Quickfuel "gage" carb yet? legal (or at least was) replacement?

Have they been pulled from the engine specs yet FOR OTHER MAKES AND MODELS?

so far this has cost me a grand and i haven't been to the track yet....oh well ,where's my shoe polish at?

anybody think this'll get overturned, i got some amc stock for ya...
