I was there. I was attempting to get the J stick record from Tony Hernandez. The weather was good enough, but I was not smart enough on the tuneup. I just could not believe that I needed those 73 jets for my 4gc! Boy was I wrong. The air was killer. I think I got 6 runs that Saturday. I was there by myself and that was a bit of a challenge, but I met some racers I had not had a chance to see race before.
I remember some guys racing in H stick, Bobby Twynam. They had a ball, but teardown was lengthy. If I remember, it was a one lane track. None of the hig HP cars wanted the left lane. Made for some tense coin tosses in the lanes for some! Yes, I would go back to go after a record again! I don't know about records. We have a book full of them. Never got any points or money for it. For us, we have been so busy with life in general it has been hard to put an A list engine together. Teardown isn't too bad for a SBC. Being quick enough, much tougher!

I was there in 2004. I had a better time in 2003 when I set the SS/BA record at an 8.79. We also set the GT/JA record with JW Hames at 10.26. There were so many records set it was ridiculous. I was the last guy in line to have my heads checked. I remember the sun coming up over the horizon as they started pouring mine. Those were the good old days. A race dedicated to setting records with perfect weather. The only cars at the facility were strictly Stock & Super Stock. You could make 20 runs if you wanted. I have some good video footage of the Alabama outings somewhere in the attic.

I was there in November (the original date). It rained out and couldn't go back for the make-up date in December.

Yes we made the pull down only to be bested by Robin Brown. We were faster by a .008 on Friday. Everyone picked up a tenth and we ran the same. We were trying everything and didn't have the tune-up for that air. Again congrats to how well Robin ran. Made for a long way home.(If you know what I mean). As far as records go we want to take it apart any chance we get. No money!! No points!! National Records YES!!!!

Oh yeh!!! They had the legend Jimmy Bridges helping in tear down. They had so many records set that they were under staffed. Jimmie was asked to pour cyl. heads. Jimmie gave me a Double Trouble t-shirt that I still wear. He is my hero as a man and stick racer.

I think Stacy took my Sunbird down. Had the fatest jetting we could do still shooting Ducks. Killed quite a few. He called and couldn't believe the barometer readings. We don't get that in the midwest plus we gotta breathe water.
Last fall was good very unusual.
