Yes he did and could tell you everything you ever needed to know about the history of the area and also about Rice Hull Ash.......used to clean up an oil down.....
He liked to tour the pits before racing started and talk to us racers to gain some info he could use during the day while he announced... Othe announcers at Island.... Don Hamson (spelling) early to mid 60's Leo John Samuals for a year or two around 1970 Nick Ritter (spelling) for a long time
