Yes, used headers can be coated, with no ill effects. At least by NitroPlate. The turn around time is around 2 weeks, or 10 working days. Again, at least it is at Nitroplate.

Robbie,
If you are getting them coated, There's no-body better than Nitroplate, both on service & price ... They do a great job & are easy to deal with. They stand behind all of their work, not like the rest of the guys !!!!

Thanks to all for responding, Yea, I meant to say Nitroplate. My big concern in using the headers for the up coming PRO AM at MIR and then having them coated. My plan was to finished building them and have them coated before using them. But after taking the old headers off I found 1 tube badly rusted out and don't want to reuse or repair them (they've only be on the car about 20 years). Keith maybe the next set will be stainless (hopefully in 20 more years) See yaw at MIR

Rob, if you haven't started building them yet, seriously consider making them stainless. I was on my third set of coated headers. the first was new, hand built, then jet hot inside out. they rusted, sent back got warranty re-done, they rusted again! second set, new hand built, then nitroplated, inside and out. they rusted. I was spending around $900. to build and coat these. this time I had a guy build mine in stainless. he charged me $1,200. but I think it was well worth it and I should never need another set.
