I love this thread! Maybe we can find more? It would be great if NHRA looked at all the other small 2bbl combos and showed them some love, so there isnt just a wave of Mavericks and Comets out there?

The bones for that one could be had in my neck of the woods for $500!
How about this one for cheapest overall from scratch build? 79 Impala 4dr 305, natural U at 20.04, could buy a used converter, cam, and gear and some street headers and be on track for no more than $1500? These grannymobiles are everywhere!

The last time that I saw it, it was a 267. That would be fun with a 4 speed!

If you look at NHRA's sheets, they list the same intake manifold for the 267 with a DualJet and the 305 with the 2GC; is that possible? (I am not familiar with DualJets, other than they look like the front of a Qjet.) Also, is either of the 79 intake manifolds (14007372 & 14007374) aluminum? The 78 alt intake 346260 is also used on the 76 and 77 305s, and the 75 and 76 350 2bbl. (Probably the 74 also; the tech sheet says 346266 but that could be a typo.) Agreed. |
