Mike, I haven't been to the races in awhile. Can you explain the Class Elims a bit?

Starting with Q2, are you pairing same class cars to run each other...OR is it a ALL
run qualifier...thinning out each class based on lowest et(s) recorded in each
respective class for that session?

Continue with class run-offs after that...(same class cars paired) until class winner is
determined?

Tough getting old..(and rusty)...out here in the sticks!!!!!

Class Eliminations are a race within a race, where all cars in the same class (all A/SA against each other, all B/SA, etc) race against each other to determine the Class Champion. Heads-up, .500 full tree, no breakouts. Some Classes get very good car counts. The last two years at Indy has seen 17 or more B/SA cars, making it five rounds to take home the B/SA trophy (as well as the SS/AH Hemi Challenge). Some classes may only have 2-6 cars. Some, like when I raced, only have one because no one will show up and race against them (too scared). It's one of the main atractions of Class Racing--who is the baddest of the bad, performance-wise? And, for those who are not, you still have the 'main event' to win.

Yes, generally Q-2 (Qualifying-2) is also C-1 (Class-1). In qualifying, your A/SA can run any car on a qual run. NHRA does this at their races, first round of Class also counts for qualifying for the main event. Like Indy next week. Stock will get Q-1 and Q-2 Wednesday, get Q-3 Thursday morning, then go into Class shortly after. C-1 will also be Q-4, the last shot to make a run good enough to qualify for the 128 car show that starts Saturday there. Only the 4 Q runs count. So if you win class, and run quick enough in C-2 and C-3 to make the show, it won't count, since it wasn't a run that counts towards qualifying (in the interest of fairness. Otherwise, a racer in a class with 1-2 cars would only get four chance to qualify; the B/SA final would have eight, with four more rounds of Class to run).
