That backs up what I've thought for years. No two steps in our cars.

We've run in to this at the shop I work at. We've got a customer with a 555 BBC he came to us after breaking a timing chain. We repaired the damage (bent valves ect) replaced the chain and all was good for about 30 pass's and you guessed it, even with a up grade timing chain it broke again. He run's a burnout chip at a pretty high RPM The shop owner's been telling him to get rid of the chip maybe he'll believe David.

There's a difference between the older 2 steps and the newer .
Analog to digital . I wouldn't do a burnout with a 2 step , but at launch RPM ( 7000 ) the newer digital boxes are very smooth. |

One thing I have noticed is the higher the rpm the smoother the 2 step gets or feels and sounds,I have used high side on starting line for long time have'nt had any problems ,but I am only on it from flash of first amber.
I agree completely with that article David Reher had in ND. I say the lower the rpm of chip the harder it is on stuff Mike Taylor 3601 |

A buddy of mine just hurt his new 540" bbc by bouncing off the rev limiter. He broke a high quality roller timing chain and bits of the chain broke off and seized his oil pump which stripped the distributor gear and shut the motor down at the 60' mark on the strip. He was lucky that the timing chain did not completely break and bust up the valve train. He made several calls after this happened was told that this is common.
