Super Comp also has 1st round on Thursday. Thought it might be a typo but, I don't think so.

Re: Maple Grove National Event-Super gas
and stock gets 3 time runs
super stock has class eliminations(so at least another time run) 7 rounds for stock and super stock super comp and super gas 6 rounds so u cut the fewer car count a time run? and they wonder why they don't get the turn outs except at this race? It is nice they tell us before we leave even though friends and family are coming Friday taking off work and hope to see us go down the track at least once what ever...we get screwed again!! if super comp and super gas are not wanted then why have us? Oh I forgot the money!!! Last edited by 2Moparfans; 10-01-2013 at 05:40 PM. |

Re: Maple Grove National Event-Super gas
well, here is NHRA's response to first round elims on Thursday for SC and SG.
There are significant challenges in putting together a run schedule at an event that has all four Pro plus all Sportsman classes. In addition to the usual challenges, at Maple Grove there is a morning curfew of 8:30 am (because cars cannot be started until that time, we routinely don't have vehicles to run until closer to 8:50 or 9:00) and sunset is at 6:45 pm. Running after dark has been met by strong opposition by most Sportsman racers. In reviewing the schedule for this weekend with a car count greater than last year, there is no way we can run all Sportsman in daylight hours and achieve the new highly successful Sunday format that we have been complimented on by so many Sportsman racers. As it is currently scheduled with running first round of two categories on Thursday it will still be almost impossible to remain on schedule Friday if we have no oil and no track prep. We know that there will be substantial track prep before a number of categories resulting in an very high probability of having to carry over some of what is scheduled to Saturday. The only alternative - change Thursday SG and SC first round to TT-3, then run R-1 of either Stock, Super Stock, Super Comp, or Super Gas at the end of the day Friday after sunset and after Top Fuel and the Jet. The earliest this would be is approximately 6:30 or 6:45, but depending on oil, track prep, etc, it could be as late as 7:45 or so. Even with this change, Saturday and Sunday will also be impacted as R-2 would be carried over to Saturday resulting in more than four Sportsman for each category being carried over to Sunday eliminating the winners parade and interviews. Thank You Josh Peterson |

Re: Maple Grove National Event-Super gas
Sad to see that NHRA decided to force S/g&S/C to run first round on Thursday, I know that NHRA is trying to be a little more responsible to the Sportsman clan but having all your runs on the same day might be an advantage. NHRA should only allow two crewmen on the pros side to be in the staging line this would expedite the time they lose screwing around getting stage, I can can't believe the time they waste cleaning this and that, just a big waste of time, they should get stage and blow up, or spin out. Looking forward to watching a couple of rounds from the top end in S/G $ S/C. best place to enjoy the racing in that class. See you at there and good luck to all the competitors. Claude Ruel

Re: Maple Grove National Event-Super gas
i have an idea, why dont we just get rid of super stock / stock class eliminations. It is pointless, a HUGE waste of time and half the cars are unopposed. If you have to give out a class wally to them, give it to the #1 qualifier in that class, and be done with it. Save class Eliminations for indy ONLY!

Quote:
2) "Half the cars" were not unopposed. There were 5 bye runs out of 40 pairs in the first round of Class, and just 1 out of 12 pairs in the 2nd round of Class. There were only 3 other pairs down the track to complete Class Eliminations. Running first round of Class takes the same amount of track time as a time trial. The balance of Class, at 65 seconds per pair equals less than 17 minutes of "additional" track time. 17 minutes does not constitute a "HUGE waste of time". If you wish to argue that Stock and Super Stock should've only gotten 2 time trials, with the 2nd round of Qualifying being the first round of Class for Super Stock, you will get no argument from me. If you wish to express the desire to not be running first round on THURSDAY, you have my full support.
