it's a state law in new Jersey

§ 13:62-4.7 Safety belts, shoulder harness and crotch
belt
(a) A quick release type safety belt, shoulder harness and
crotch belt in good condition shall be compulsory on all ve-
hicles.
(b) Both ends of the safety belt, shoulder harness and
crotch belt must be fastened to the frame of the vehicle.
(c) All
fi
ttings and connections of the safety belt, shoulder
harness and crotch belt shall be metal.
(d) All safety belts and shoulder harnesses shall be worn
properly the entire time the vehicle is being driven in a
race.
(e) All safety belts and shoulder harnesses shall bear the
date of manufacture and shall not be used for more than two
years from that date.
(f) The shoulder harness shall be secured to the frame of
the vehicle and come over a round bar at the driver’s shoul-
der height .

Jeff

Here's your answer....

See page 302/320 in the downloaded version of the 2013 rulebook.
It's in section 20, page 34 (General Regulations under Ignition).

"The use of any programmable multi-point rev limiter and/or a rateof-
acceleration rpm limiter, either by themselves (e.g., MSD 7561)
or integrated into the ignition system (e.g., MSD 7531), are
prohibited in NHRA competition."

These are the only two I see prohibited from msd.
7751 is not mentioned in the 2013 rulebook.

Spoke to Bruce Bachelder today and 7751 is legal. Pat Cvengros returned my call shortly after and confirmed also. I asked Pat why the RPM controller could not be within reach of the driver? I cited Ed Wright's example that you see everybody is spinning their tires due to a change in track conditions, so what's wrong with making an adjustment to help the situation? He didn't have the answer and said he would have to research the rationale. I said I've seen plenty of S/SS cars with a rotary adjustment dial within the drivers reach. I said "I'm sure that in the grand scheme of things this is a low priority issue" Sounded like he agreed but I'll order my 7751 tonight and make sure it's away from my stubby arms anyways.

Thanks for checking Jeff. My rotory rev limiter switch is within reach if I loosen my belts. I would move the MSD box over closer if I thought it was OK.
