When I first started going racing with my brother in 1981, IHRA Modified Production was in its heyday. As was mentioned earlier 40# flywheels, Dana 60's with 6.83 gears, 10,500+ and side step the clutch, and if the engine was bigger than 300c.i. it was unusual. One of the mega RPM cars I remember was mentioned earlier, Fred Whites vette. I remember looking at the old Moroso tack with the reset needle and it was always pushed past the numbers on the dial. The pits then was a corvette car show. Don Jackson

In that case,,, you should've went to Columbus for the Northern Classnationals. The event T-shirts had not 1, but 2 wheelstanding Superstockers on the back side, with the Autometer event logo plastered on the front,, nicely done in dark blue or grey, your choice. You can see them in the Classnationals thread.
I flew all the way from Seattle to get mine,,, what held you back?

I don't know if Terry Sherrill was mentioned earlier in this thread, but he was so much fun to watch, I thought I would post a pic of his A/MP corvette.

It was a car that as a kid I ran to the starting line to watch.

Interesting side note, this car is being reassembled by a group of his old friends. It is being put back to its MP configuration and appears to be pretty close to its appearance back at that time. This was no small undertaking as the body looked like Humpty Dumpty after the crash, a million very small pieces of fiberglass had to be grafted back together.
