I only bring this up because there's an awful lot of "I told you so" going on from the Lamb crowd where nothing has really been proven either way other than yet another plausible scenario.

If it was me and I was broken but the car would still move, I'd stage that sucker and hope he went red. Any way you slice it, there was some type of arrangement made before the final round between Lambeck and Lamb. Only a couple of people will probably ever know if it was nefarious or innocent.
I'm with you on that. I'd have done a light burnout, staged and hoped the other guy went red.

Really?

We now know Doug's car was wounded. What if it was the transmission or converter or valve springs???

Would you chance blowing up a high dollar 427 to look good?

If my car was wounded I don't think I would have went back to stage, much less drove it down the track.

Really?

I think you should maybe read a few pages back in the thread explaining why he showed up.

lets just say (as I don't know AND either do you) that he had cooked 3rd in his transmission and was slipping in drive?
Or had a spring that lost a bunch of seat pressure? Ok at 4000rpm but not 7500

Yeah I had read that. I just I don't think I would have drove my car like that. As a matter I know I wouldn't have same thing happened to me last year and I didn't go back for the final. Not worth taking the chance of doing more damage than may have already been done. Like I have already said only a few people know what happened so everything in this thread is speculation.I have my opinion and you have yours, its all good.

Yeah. We tried that once. I think the bill was close to $7K, and it put us way behind on our development curve. For all intents and purposes, destroying that engine pretty much killed almost all of that year. We tried to crank out a replacement real quick, twice, only to have a lot of problems we should not have had.

Almost 66,000 hits ago, this thread was started about LAS VEGAS.

As Alan Reinhart always says, this is a right place and right time kind of sport.

In the last two years of racing,I have not had three people redlight against me,so I was curious as to how somebody could get so lucky as to have 3 redlights in a row (two of them rolled the beams)into a bye run to seal the World Championship in Stock.

Then,on top of that,a win in Super Stock on a bye run.

With luck this good,I would have left the race track as quickly as possible and headed to the Strip.

Much more money to be won at the tables or slot machines than messing with Drag Racing, that is for sure.

Chad, since they are friends, the Lambs may very well have know Lambeck's car was wounded. Staging & hoping for a red light in the other lane would not have worked.
