I don't remember that one. What happened, Jim?

She sued Van Cleve in court over an on-track accident. I think the judge basically told her to "pack sand".

That is correct and Jim lost all interest in drag racing afterwards since he fought this on his own with no support from NHRA. They were just watching the developments from the sidelines.

Didn't she run a fuel car, and he an SS car?

they both ran comp at the time. Her lawsuit claimed that he was so pissed he was going to get beat by a girl, that he intentionally crashed both cars

There was a thread about that on Yellowbullet a while back. She posted that the lawsuit was filed by her Dad because he claimed it was intentional as you said. She claimed they withdrew the suit, but I recall the judge throwing it out too. IIRC, Van Cleve lost an oil line off the motor and got loose in his own oil.

I have a buddy who got hit in the side at the Bracket Finals a few years ago not once but twice by the same guy on the same pass. Guy got loose and stayed in it, crossed the c/l and hit Kim, got back in it, and hit him again. Kim went to find him in the pits afterward and the guy would not even talk to him.

They were both running in comp @ the time. Jim's Mustang was part of Bernstein's superteam.

I remember Shirley Muldowney commenting on Lori Johns saying something like drag racing not needing her bimbo ism.
Was that her only lawsuit or was there a top fuel deal too.

Question for the masses: If you locked up the binders at the finish line, and it caused you to crash your car and the guy next to you, would you help the other guy out with paying for the damages?

I would be sour that I did it to my own car, but completely sickened that I hurt someone's else ride in the process.

I can barely afford to run my own car without hitting anybody but if I did and it was my fault I would not race again until his car was fixed and back on the track and if he lived close enough to me I would go by his house and help him work on it. Really hoping that never happens. Knocking on wood. I think when that happens more often than not somebody should have aborted the run before the cars got together. Countless wreck videos on you tube where guys are in the gas way way longer than they should be.
