That extravagant cost will yield little advantage. But it will open that box if the Spring Rule is changed. D Last edited by Dan Fahey; 12-22-2013 at 03:15 PM. |

Back when stock had pure stock cam and valve spring rules my Rimac spring checker was the most important tool I had.

Here is a link to a 1000# Rimac Valve Spring Tester.
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=214632_0_0_ Wonder how hard it would be to make one fit on a Head? D |

We have a 1000lb Rimac (Can almost check my open pressure.) and an on-car tester (LSM).

Not considering the springs issue. I don't see any additional cost between a cam under the new rules and a Bullet cam for today's rule.

Consensus is to keep the rules before the Change. However, Teching a cam require tedious measurement of Duration, Overlap, and measuring the Spring Rate. Lift is fairly easy. Hence the relaxing of the rules. However, the new Rules will kill Pure Stock Racing forever ! D |

With the new cam and spring rules you will see way more cost involved (assuming you want to maximize the performance that come with the new cam). You now need new springs the cheap stock replacement ones will not cut it (read more expensive springs) Now that you have much more spring pressure you will probably need different lifters to handle the extra pressure. (once again read more expensive). Now with all that changed you will need to get a different converter and can probably use a rear gear swap also to maximize all the other changes ( guess what more money out the door again). |
