I was there several years back just to watch on Friday afternoon.
There was a 55 T Bird if I remember correctly that a couple of older guys with their girlfriends who could have also been their daughters got into a bidding contest.
I felt like the T Bird was a $30,000 to $40,000 car. The two were a little boozed up and to impress the young girls ran the car to over $60,000 before one would drop out.
It was really pretty funny and almost all the crowd was pushing both to keep bidding. It was only those two bidding from somewhere in the $30,000's until the one dropped out.
It was entertaining for those who were just watching.
I am sure that happens a lot.
To me the auction is a chance to see cars you would never see anywhere else and worth the price of admission to see them.
I saw a Tucker there one of the years I attended and have never seen one since.
That was a car far ahead of its time.

I went 2 years ago just for the experience...seeing some amazing and rare cars made it very worthwhile, plus Scottsdale weather this time of year is about perfect. It's a very affluent area (imagine many of the well off are part timers there) and you even see some beautiful and rare cars roaming the streets. Get a kick out of Steve 'the car guy', he knows his stuff and old Mopars are his passion...gotta like that.

So yea, I'd say do it at least once and that will probably be enough.

I treated my mom and step dad last year to palm beack barret jackson auction on Saturday. I was visiting and saw the ad on tv. It was a lot of fun actually to crawl around the cars. Some real nice, some good cover ups. Some messes I would not drive till I went over them. I found myself around the 68-70 A bodies and first gen F bodies GMs. Had a good following as I told my mom what I found here and there on the cars. Thank god she was a car fan before I was around so she put up w me for longer than I thought she and my step dad could, lol. It actually was a lot of fun for the day. A lot of pretty women there too. I'd go again. Some bargains in cars there actually on the right day and nice souvenirs too.

Fun to see the cars at these Auctions. I have been to Kruse in Auburn but not the really big stuff. Watching and Hearing the prices they sell for I just wonder what they say when they wake up from their Buying spree with a double priced car in the morning. Kind of like Vette prices at some of the local dealers showrooms...

I see many of the same faces every year at every auction.

Some people have way more money than most of us can imagine.

They can spend it anyway they like and lots of people make money off it.

America .....Capitalism is good for some.....not as good for the rest of us....I am not jealous and don't think they are stupid or foolish....They will die just like the rest of us and all their "stuff" will go to someone else and probably at a lot less money....

I can't afford the header tether requirement cost, let alone a "Barrett Jackson" car..... ;-)
