Very, very sad. I followed Mr. Martin for years. Although I never met him, I feel like I've lost an old friend. My condolences to the family.

We lost a good guy and a great racer, I moved to Arizona from PA in 1995 and was hired at Trickle Racing (Formerly Kip Martin Racing) by Don Kennedy, and was unsure of Kip at first, He had the final say in my getting hired, but we formed a great friendship, We built my motor for my dragster in that shop and I learned so much from him, not only about motors but about life. I could tell a lot of stories, some are not of the PG rating! He became like a second dad to me, we used to shoot pool a few times a week, go touring Arizona on the weekends. He had a very analytical mind, he taught me how to think his way. After that shop got sold and equipment sold, the guy who bought it wanted me to work for him, I told him Kip and I were a package, so it was either both of us or none, I don't think he could afford Kip or else he thought they would butt heads, so I didn't work there, I ended up going back to PA but still kept in touch with Kip and was able to go back for visits and we always hung out together while I was there. I'll miss him!

I am sad to know that one of my favorite super stock racer buds to hang out with, has passed away. I feel worse for just realizing this yesterday, from talking with a racing bud of ours, Wes McCann. I was looking forward to not only watching Kips awesome Ford in action, but hanging out with him during and possibly after the upcoming divisional here in Phoenix. I got to know about Kip, from meals we had with Wes prior to, or after racing activities in Bakersfield, Vegas, or here. Kip was a great guy to bench race with, and he obviously knew his stuff on the track as well. I will definitely black slash my car in honor of him. God Bless his family, and I also thank God for blessing me/us with Kip Martin!
