I always wondered why the rear rims were installed backwards on this car. Offset with existing rims rather than buying new? Nice touch on the restore Mr.E.
Got snow???? Ya, we're still buried under 3-4 feet here. Just got another 3 inches Sunday with more in the forcast. tommorrow is spring????? hey daryl, i went through hundreds and hundreds of photos from dover drag strip. Unfortunately Nothing. more video's Nothing. That doesn't mean they don't exist! Same as my old Superbee, Not 1 pic. Hard to believe since it Won Alot of races there. i'd say find who ever has National Speedway collection. might bring more clues. this ain't over!

The Saga continues.................................. Must have patience, must have patience,-- I keep telling myself. Sometimes it works, other times not so much Charlie-- your correct M68-- great detail pic of that car. Never saw the real paint scheme it had before. very cool liteweight for your Hemi Dart fix of the day. A very competitive state of the art car back in the 80's/ early 90's. Original LO23 Dart once owned by a fellow Canadian, currently ( last I knew) owned by John Friel ![]() Last edited by Liteweight; 03-27-2014 at 09:58 AM. |

Not only on this car. "Back in the day", custom wheels with offsets to the inside were not common (Cragar Super Tricks were the main ones, and expensive for grassroots racers.). With the Super Stock cars of the late '60s came the use of wide tires which meant wide wheels. Most of the wide wheels were aluminum cast with about a 4" inset for suspension and body clearance on stock suspensions. You could turn a 10" aluminum slot wheel around, machine a flat surface to mount against a brake drum and have a 5"-5 1/2" back spacing. We did that on an SS Chevelle in 1972.
