If you were a mfg. would you rather sell new belts every 2 years, or every 5 years, lol.

Do any of you get your belts recertified (and if so, where), or do you simply replace them?

I decided to do just that this season,,, at 2 years they still looked great. So, I took them back to SRP in Kent, Washington who made them for me originally. These things cost me 69.99 plus tax 2 years ago new,, so I thought it couldn't be that much to get them recerted. When I went to pick them up, the guy still wanted 60 bucks for them. I'm thinking that's a little much for a recert,, so I won't deal with them anymore,, I'll just buy new every 2 years for that little difference in price. I don't mind the little Ma & Pop shops making a living off us,, but this recert deal has kind of bugged me. At least I've got 2 more years to think about it.

I do not think anyone "re-certifies" belts. I believe they would re-web using the existing hardware. It cost me $60 every time I have had Simpson or Impact belts done, so that seems to be the going rate.

You are correct.. They have to be re-webbed but the hardware can remain. We have a local Gal that a lot of Mission racers use and her stuff is higher priced than off the shelf but also better quality hardware. I just paid $85.00 for the re-web which isn't a problem it's just the fact we are forced to do this every 2 years. Even the Gal making a few $$ thinks it's ridiculous.

Petition to request extending seat belt life to 5 years.

I did not initiate this petition.

I thought it a regular issue/thorn, so I brought it here.
