In talking to Jeff late last year it sure seemed like he was banned something about not following the admin rules and putting a 3 month old car for sale ad back to the top and not rewriting the ad or something.
I know he's busy with remodeling houses to flip and still finding time to work on that AMX. He was in the D7 race in October in Vegas and was #3 qualifier with over 100 entries first time out with all new combo but then DQ'd and then again at D7 this year raced in Chandler. He raced SS that time with his stock parts and found out it was not so fast in SS but he has his old SS parts getting freshened up so he will be fast in SS just takes time with his business and big family. I know he is racing or testing this Saturday at Firebird. Call him up he will help your relative. 602-418-9797

You're 100% right Pat. But when you look at the sum total of what was proposed you kind of had to scratch your head.

Ed, what parts do you think should not be allowed? Pretty sure all of them were replacement parts from the AMC factory. We have the original books from AMC to prove it....maybe do your research before you start knocking people down for trying to get it approved. I believe it was someone out your way that cried to NHRA about everything to get it revoked. Guess some people actually race and some people complain about everyone else who races but we all know is which side!

I totally agree with that statement. On the other hand, AMC group 19 parts should not be legal nor should anything else that was not available on the showroom floor be legal in stock other than replacement parts that are NHRA approved and do not significantly improve performance. That should not include bigger carbs, "police specials" and some of the other stretches of the rules that have managed to sneak thru over the years.

well, guys, NHRA approved the carb, intake and cam....we go buy 'em and then NHRA or somebody bitches about it and then they get un-approved.

I'm happy as **** because I cannot find the correct carb for my 290,cool, I can quit looking, right?

nope, roughly 1500 bucks down the drain for me.
MY issue with Jeff is he said I was the one that "threw him under the bus" (his words)

news flash, I'm in the same boat, why the hell would I do that?

I could live with the cam and intake getting pulled but why were they approved in the 1st place?

oh well, i'll just run in the local stick class for now

So Jim,

What is so different with AMC's that can't have parts that were approved under the same guidelines as other makes?
Not to rehash the same B.S. again; nevertheless, I have seen the documentation sent by Chrysler to NHRA making the parts legal for use. It is the same process used by other OEM's to have parts approved such as the 2 x 4 barrel Shelby's, the higher lift cams, Chevy 283 with a 327 intake, etc...

Again, please edify me why AMC's are different and why the same rules don't apply?
