You're 100% right Pat. But when you look at the sum total of what was proposed you kind of had to scratch your head.

Ed, what parts do you think should not be allowed? Pretty sure all of them were replacement parts from the AMC factory. We have the original books from AMC to prove it....maybe do your research before you start knocking people down for trying to get it approved. I believe it was someone out your way that cried to NHRA about everything to get it revoked. Guess some people actually race and some people complain about everyone else who races but we all know is which side!

I may be wrong, my memory isn't what it used to be but as I remember, he had a or some SS only parts on the car but running the car as a Stocker. Remember it was a Stocker then a SS'er then a Stocker again .As I said, my memory isn't what it used to be so.......

Whatever it was I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

As far as being banned. It's a big club! If you haven't been banned at least once, you're not posting enough!! Jim

Jim,

Jeff's engine was legal for Stock Eliminator.
The only reason NHRA questioned him was regarding the leaf spring shackles that in my opinion and the same of others, were and are legal.

I totally agree with that statement. On the other hand, AMC group 19 parts should not be legal nor should anything else that was not available on the showroom floor be legal in stock other than replacement parts that are NHRA approved and do not significantly improve performance. That should not include bigger carbs, "police specials" and some of the other stretches of the rules that have managed to sneak thru over the years.

well, guys, NHRA approved the carb, intake and cam....we go buy 'em and then NHRA or somebody bitches about it and then they get un-approved.

I'm happy as **** because I cannot find the correct carb for my 290,cool, I can quit looking, right?

nope, roughly 1500 bucks down the drain for me.
MY issue with Jeff is he said I was the one that "threw him under the bus" (his words)

news flash, I'm in the same boat, why the hell would I do that?

I could live with the cam and intake getting pulled but why were they approved in the 1st place?

oh well, i'll just run in the local stick class for now
