No Neil.are you? Protecting your buddy, just like when Ed was busting balls.
Bogus paperwork an eternity after the fact is not very ethical. No matter though, they couldn't catch the bogus factors on the new generation cars anyway.

books.google.com/books?isbn=1610608011

Go to this site. It's the history of AMC by Larry Mitchell, an AMC historian/collector and go to page 82. You be the judge.I would think if AMC released replacement parts approved by AMC Larry would know. Parts supposedly approved by Chrysler/Fiat in 2013 well ............

Ed -
You are missing the whole point. The issue is not the historical facts about what or what did not happen 40 years ago; the issue is that if Chrysler, acting as the manufacturer since they own everything American Motors, submitted a legitimate technical update for those engines today, it should be honored and accepted (Thanks for the info, Adger!). Chrysler did the same thing with the single 4-bbl NASCAR Hemis 35 years after the fact and all those parts are now in the books. Shelby did the same thing for his cars. It's the inconsistency of NHRA Tech that is the rub, not the historical facts. From what I know, every one of Jeff Lee's requests were turned down, so he is not the villain here. NHRA claimed to have found a document from AMC they received in the 1970 era that submitted the high performance camshaft as a service replacement and that is how that got in the books. And now Chrysler has submitted a request for the intake and carb. Yet the parts listed on both submittals have been removed because of a smear campaign against Jeff Lee when he was not the originator of either request, and an appeal to some history that is irrelevant to the issues. So what's your deal?

New parts get added now and then, and I understand it. Sometimes it is new information, sometimes it is an effort to make life easier because of obsolescence, sometimes it is slipped thru by a racer in a loophole .

Correct me if I am wrong here,

there were multiple items approved for many AMC combos, and all were performance improving items. There should've been a substantial HP rating increase on all the effected combos when the parts were allowed. I don't think that happened, and that was just plan BS.

Is it true that it has all been rescinded ? and it is back to what is was a year or 2 ago ?

Dwight, along with some of the stuff that's been approved across the board by manufacturer over the past few years I liken it to revisionist history. It seems Ca.
doesn't have the *alls to stand up to them.

So, let me understand this whole AMC drama...

1. Ed and Jim are trying to maintain the purity of the AMC brand by not allowing alternate OEM parts that the OEM provided NHRA legal objective evidence for its approval, that also happened to correspond to some of the parts shown in the Group 19 catalog. This, with having the knowledge the same has been done with others makes and OEM's. Noted why they will not be interested in seeing the make they seem to cherish, AMC, kick some butt.

2. Billy Nees, goes to his NHRA friends that happens to have influence in the Stock and Super Stock class decisions, and convinces him to rescind the approved parts for which legal documentation was provided for.

In the later, I believe is a case of a personal retribution against Jeff because I have never seen Billy put this much effort in getting this done as applicable to Chevy, Ford or Mopar makes.

This is my summary and Cliff Notes of this drama!
