Stock is done with their second round and Super Stock just finished up with their first. There was a unfortunate incident were Joe Santangalo missed his run by a few minutes. Everyone knows how much of a supporter I am of NHRA, probably to much so, but they really screwed up this time.
Joe just finished running a heads up in stock, and as most know heads up races are usually last. Super Comp finished up quick with only 15 pair to run between stk and ss. Joe's opponent, Robert Panza was told to go to the burnout box and then told to do his burnout and stage. Joe was being escorted through the pits by NHRA officials to get there as fast as he can, he was parked way past the finish line. Joe got up there and needed no more than 30 seconds to get ready, NHRA told Robert to stage and the rest is history. What a terrible call by the NHRA officials, there were many cars all ready paired up and ready to go. Its amazing that the pit officials were escorting Joe and the track officials were telling Robert to race, do they use the same radios or what. Just a little common sense would have made this a none issue. Now NHRA has two race teams upset with each other for a bad call. I have lots of photos of stk/ss, as soon as I finish editing, I will post them. |

Does anyone know if NHRA did their jobs and have cars go to the barn? If not, why not, what are we paying for with our membership and ridiculous entry fees to NHRA? NHRA is supposed to do their "do diligence" and make sure that all the cars in the field are within spec. When I went to Englishtown back in the 70's and 80's, I was one of the cars always picked for tear down. Didn't matter where you qualified, you could be the one of many to be taken apart. (usually 10 to 15 stockers alone) I personally don't care, I would take my car apart anywhere no matter if I'm last on the Q sheet where I usually hang out.
I want to see cars come apart, not to make money for NHRA, but to see if all the players are fair and square. Casey Miles 248H "F" NHRA Stock! |
