If you asked the super class index racers, most would be in favor of buy backs. Stock and SS racers, a very different breed, and in my opinion, very much against buy backs. That being said, I am sure the responses here will be very interesting to say the least...........................

No to buybacks. If it were a 'second chance' race, for all first round and/or second losers for an extra shot at money in their own race, I would be OK with it. But, not putting them back into the next round of the main race. Leave that for local bracket racing.

This poses an interesting question. Since "buy-backs" are a money making proposition for the promoters, It's amazing that NHRA hasn't already started doing this................

How much for the buy-back in top fuel? LOL
NHRA could make enough to raise the sportsman purse!

Cicero819, ( Claude )

What kind of Stocker or S/S do you own or drive ?? Thanks, but No-thanks!!
Leave Stock & S/S alone , we have enough things to argue/ fight about ?
As Rich said we are still drawing Racers, let's Fix payouts & other things ...

Rich, my friends are already stoking the fire as we speak. I was just thinking about implementing at races where stock and super stock haven't done too terrific lately in the car count area, Denver comes to mind and some of the western stops would get some extra cars. Just like most of you I've been old school, you lose and pack up for home but after talking with a former drag racer racing in stock eliminator and now enjoying racing Miata's series and low bucks road racing, he said that he would consider racing in stock if they had buy-backs. His way of thinking is that since they're no more class racing the BB would make up for the hurry and wait time that he's wasted so much, now he races for three solid hours for his $200 a big difference in his humble opinion. Don't wait like Captain Edward J. Smith and not plan for what might be just around the corner.Claude P.S b Dave I am a fan of stock eliminator and have own my share of Stock eliminator cars in the 80's and currently have a new style Camaro 2000 sitting in my garage. I know that you've been racing for a long time and paid your dues but it doesn't make you the gate keeper. I was totally against the idea in bracket racing but after trying it I have to say that it helps the track operator and that can't be a bad thing. So if only people who races have a word to say about stock eliminator than expect a short life span.Claude Ruel

A separate race or "last chance eliminator" for say anyone who lost 1-3rnd round might be an option but would be very hard to do with just stock or just super stock. need a new ladder, qualifying, not many cars, etc.. I also hate buybacks and think this is a bad idea at this level.

I know your heart is in the right place, Claude, but this would NEVER work for a number of very good reasons, some of which have already been mentioned. A few of the local tracks tried changing the name to "re-entry" and having the first round 'runner-ups' race each other for a spot in the second round, separate from the winners. It didn't matter WHAT you called it, it was not well received! Most of our races also feature a Saturday "Combo", which makes a lot more sense, for both the racers and the promoters!

Thumbs down Re: How about buy-backs in stock and super stock

Claude ,

You sound just like the people in the early 70's who said that Class Racing
was dead.. It's 44 years later & it's the strongest class in NHRA .. Anyway,
I don't like buy-backs either, but I also have a vote !!! Someone tell me why all the buy-backs go to the track & not to the Winnings ??? I think if you want Buy Bucks , you go Bracket Racing ............ Claude, The Denver thing is a track problem ? National events are a whole different problem ?
