Do you know anyone that has a set of 26" slicks you could borrow to try? That would go a long way to show you how much a gear change would help your car.
If you spend the money for a stocker cam along with valve springs and good lifters, your RPM range is only going to go higher. Your 3:90 gear will become even more of a problem. A fast stocker 5.0 is going to run 7000+ rpm. You need to gear the car according.

Last nights best 8.64 with 78mph 1/8 mile, air was 2500 ft. only changes were removed the screen from T/body and took out 20 more lbs. Still can't get to the 1/4 mile track test and tune gets rained out ever week.
By the way that a good idia about the test with a 28'' tire Slickfoot |

I'm thinking of going with 5.13s I know it's alot of gear for my stock motor, but that's the gear i'll end up with when I build a motor over the winter. Might be able to put a stocker cam and springs in it to get it to run to the end of the 1/4 with 5.13s for the rest of the year.

Talk to John Presing. He was very fast with his build (and pretty much every build), and knows how to make the car run.
You don't need an MSD box at this point. It won't make your car faster. You need gears and a Tweecer or Moates board with a program like Binary Editor to make tuning changes. You will make a huge improvement in ET with 5:13's and the ability to tune your engine. |

There's been a guy trying to sell a set of (albeit) used 5.14's on The Corral. In the drivetrain parts section. Not me, or anybody I know.
