Dave,

My mustang convertible weighs 3610 minimum and I have run it as heavy as 3675 with no c-4 problems with a lot less clutch plates than what you are using. If you were going heavier, you might just go 6 pinion FWD planetary with standard ratio if you need extra torque capacity.
