Wow, must have been dozing when they announced Butner is going PS with the Summit bunch. Yet another good driver getting into the fray....perhaps PS has a future after all. Frankly, don't understand why more up and coming sportsman racers don't use PRO MOD as the next logical step up, much more return on investment.

Pro category with less events (=less travel expense) and cars are about 1/2 as expensive to run.

Agree with you completely but they will still be running when PS as we know it is finished. Perhaps the new racers will breathe some new life in it (particularly interested in what Westcott can do) but if they keep struggling for full fields and PM has 25+ cars it may cause a shakeup in classes.

In my mind the natural progression under current structure is Stock->Super Stock->Comp->ProStock. They all have the same driver skill lineage.

ProMod is a good lead way into TopFuel Funny Car with driving characteristics IMO. Small Tire heads up->outlaw->ProMod.

I think ProMod is a less expensive class and has less events. However they run a lot of their own events other places and the class is getting more expensive every year. I have a friend who runs the class and it's an exciting class IMO. Cost wise ProMod is "cheaper" by half a million per year. However they are faster and have way different driving skills required.

They are not a pro class..they are still considered sportsman... And they park them in the mud with the rest of us
