Hi Sam, thanks for the info, I got these doors probably 20 yrs ago. The guy gave them to me, while I was looking for parts for my 55 chevy. they came off a blue wagon, maybe I will see if I can look him up, thanks again

ken55,
Sorry , it wasn't me you bought those doors from 20 years .... I had spoke to Lamar back 35 years ago when I was running 55-57 Cheys .. He was a good guy who loved racing ... The only other guy was Joe Smith who also ran a 55 Chevy & was a good friend of Lamar ? He lived outside of Boston. Good luck with your search , haven't spoke to Joe Smith in 10-15 years ? Hope this helps , Love those " 55 Chevys " ..... Dave,

Ken, I can maybe give you a little more info about Lamar. He as I recall raced several 55-56 chevy back in the 70s. He lived just a short distance from National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio(he actually lived in Buckeye Lake). He was a very sharp guy that had some of the sharpest cars in their day and held national records also. He was very respected and once you got to know him, he would give you pointers that always seems to help performance wise. I was running a 1963 Chevy II convertible at either the 1972 or 73 U.S. Nationals. Our ets were off and after talking to Lamar, he suggested that I needed more rear end gear. At that point he said to take one of 55-64 "punkins" and try it in our car. Helped our car greatly and I always remember Lamar as a "teacher" from then on. He was taken way before his time and left a void in the National Trail family.

The Mighty Quinn is correct here. That would be Joe Smith from Stoneham, Mass now living in NH ..with both cars!

Yes, that is him in the picture. If anyone has pictures of Lamar Vaubel, I know his kids would be interested in them.
