This green Dodge - and the driver - look very familiar. I recall seeing and speaking with him in early 1967 or '68 at Orange Drag Strip in Orange, Mass., the car had "Great Road Dodge" written on the sides that day. Had open headers as I recall. Great Road Dodge was in Maynard, MA, just west of Boston, very likely it's the same car. Too bad it is half-way across the country now, as the Orange Drag Strip Reunion is this Saturday.
This is my first post, but I've been going to New England-area drags since 1964, memory still pretty good. Thanks! BB |

Bernie, you are exactly right. My good friend and original owner Fred Gould ordered that car the first day you could in Nov. 65. He was a salesman for DEC computers so he would tape or shoe polish Great Road Dodge (where he helped on weekends) as he needed to go to work in it during the week. He still lives in Mass. and came down as my guest for the Belle Rose Hemi Shootout.
Unfortunately the car is in the rain here at Kirkwood. We opted out of the practice rally today as Friday St. Louis traffic and bigtime rain and flooding. We start again in the morning. FYI Great Race.com |
