Looks like more hype to sell expensive spark plugs. My Mazda rotary in 1979 came with plugs with 3 ground electrodes, my understanding was the plug fired easier to the cooler electrode and was needed because the rotary fires on each side of the rotor (3 per revolution) no exhaust stroke for the plug to cool. It also had 4 spark plugs, 2 per rotor.
