Default Re: Competition Number Size

It seems to me that NHRA has a lot more to worry about than whether somebody has 6" high numbers on their car. If someone in the tower has a question about a car number, there are wonderful inventions called radios that the people working in the staging lanes can use to clarify the number or class designation.

Fans in drag racing could care less about car numbers. There is probably 0 correlation between a driver's car number and their fans. Outside of who carries the number 1 in each class, I feel there is no association between car and car number in drag racing.

What is Force's number, what about Leah Pritchett, or Jason Line?

-now in Nascar, its completely different. People who follow that sport close enough can and do associate car, driver, and car#. ie... Jr 88, Danica 10, Tony 14, etc.

NHRA probably wishes it that way for marketing purposes.

The only thing about a lot of the sportsman cars is the first number that indicates what division they are from. If you like sportsman racing, it is nice to see what different parts of the country racers come from to compete at events outside of their area.
