Smile Re: Pro Mod or Pro Stock?

As a fan of Pro Stock, since day 1, I've always enjoyed the innovations, that nowadays are few and far between, but evolution and the passage of time usually wins out, so I have no problem with going to F.I., keep the 500 inch limit and weight the same, so that those of us who follow the class can see the results, good or bad. As far as the RPM limit goes,, I have no idea what they're spinning these days, but I can remember seeing WJ's tach go to 10,000 rpm in the pits here in Seattle in '76 when he winged it for us standing around that 'ol Camaro he ran for so long. It was the first time I'd heard a big block go that high, even though it was destroked, but that sound stuck with me. We all got through the weight-break era, and when the rules were simplified in '82, I thought it was for the better. Too many rule changes now, and we'll be comparing apples to oranges again. If the hood scoops go, so be it. They were getting ridiculous in size already. Eventually, getting the bodies looking closer to stock proportions will be better too.

Danny, Erica Enders-Stevens has stated, on more than one occasion, that the top Pro Stock engines are spun to 11,000+. The question is how far above 11,000.
