Re: New "Dime Rocket" combo added to guide!
[QUOTE=bigshow2966;476944]His blue Valiant was the first Slant door car in the 10's. He went as fast as 10:05 but never made the 9 Second Club. The 9 Second Club has 4 members at this time. There were quite a few 10 second cars. Slant racing is pretty popular in the northwest and southeast. There are a few cars scattered around the Midwest, but not like it was 10 years ago.[/QUOT;E]
I just happen to have a 1964 Valiant, slant 6, factory 4 speed car sitting in the garage. I looked at building it but at 145hp it's no where near competitive but the curious thing is that a Mopar magazine built a slant six: raised the compression two points, blue printed, hotter cam and some carburetor work, threw it on a dyno and if I remember correctly it made 45hp at the rear wheels. 100hp less than in the guide, how could it ever compete when it's factored 100hp more than it makes when modified? Maybe some of the other early sixes are in the same boat with bloated hp figures?

Edit: it made 75 hp not 45 hp
