I'm thinking the same side as the battery, that way when the switch is off there's no chance that the alternator will continue to power the engine and fuel pump. But I don't know for sure, it's been a very long time since I've run a car with a trunk-mounted battery.

That would be correct. I tried connecting my alternator to both sides if the switch to solve my battery drain problem and connecting it to the car side produced run-on. I saw no difference between connecting the alternator to the battery side of the switch and the battery positive itself, so I went with the battery pole because there's more room up there and I'm not sure Tech wants anything but the battery connected to that switch.

If an alternator shuts itself off correctly, it can be connected to the battery side of the shut-off switch. Mine won't.

Keep it simple, safe, and NHRA legal, get a double pole disconnect.
