I like pure stock but won't be running it soon,Ky doesn't have any races close in IHRA,I have alot of racing close to home as a stocker, but going to keep my pure stock engine and trans, unless someone wants to buy it.
I will never build a car again that doesn't fit NHRA and IHRA. My advice to anyone thinking of building a pure stock car, build a late model car they can go quick and still be able to street drive them. I don't care anything about being able to street drive my car,but when originally built it was the plan to be able to drive to track and race it,but had to lose the street-ability to be able to catch up with Bobby Butler's Mustang and then Don? Maroon mustang from around Cincy and McGee's chevelle wagon. Dan, a LT-1 against a carbed, smog motor 305,why you want to pick on me. Mike Taylor 3601 |

Well I figure a Plus Size LT1 Car vs a Svelte Wheel Standing 305 Malibu is a good match. ![]() However understand your point about Pure Stock. Sad that NHRA will not allow the Class. Guess they figure they have enough cars coming to their events. Going to IHRA races more people are building Pure Stockers to get back into the game. A hand full every year but it adds up. Think the key is to standardizing on a Spring Rule. Much Like PureStockDrags does ! All about the good KISS Principle: Keep it sweet and simple.. To keep the Cam Technical Inspection simple much like regular Stock. Full Stock is any Spring, any duration, Lift the limiting factor. Pure Stock rules could be changed limit Spring Pressure and Lift. Would ease Technical Tear Down Inspection like regular Stock. Another idea is to incorporate Pure Stock into Regular Stock. Add them to the ranks of E to T Stock. An objective of Pure Stock is to incent racers to enter their Street Cars and develop them up the supply chain. What do you think? I will write NHRA but want to hear your feedback. Dan Last edited by Dan Fahey; 09-03-2015 at 11:21 AM. |

IHRA says they are Class Cars . Know of two new Pure Stocker are being built as we speak. Duster and a Firebird.. Got quite a following.. go see Pure Stock Photo Gallery. Todays IHRA Pure Stockers are the same Stock Eliminator rules from 1974 to 1988 or so. After that rules changed to allow any Spring and duration. Lift being the only limitation. That was to ease the Tech Tear Downs inspections. James do you also have it out for the Crate Motor dudes too ? Dan |

NHRA tried Pure Stock years ago. Really Pure Stock, cheaper than what you are trying to do. Had low car counts similar to what you have, although not as low. Dropped them due to lack of interest. Don't hold your breath until they try it again. IHRA is more desperate for cars.

I've been wanting to make a jump into stock for along time, was always my favorite class since I was a kid. Cost has always been a limiting factor of course. Been sticking to brackets and SST. That being said, I've been doing alot of reading up on Pure Stock and think its the perfect entry point. I have been seriously considering building a pure stocker for some time. Only problem is the number of races near me. More NHRA here than IHRA. It doesn't make much sense to put the money in another car for the amount of travel and lack of races at the moment. However, if nhra picked it up it would be a no brainer! It would definitely be a tipping point for me. Also, it would be cool to jump in with a pure stocker, then when budget allows, crank the same car up to a full traditional stocker on down the road Just my .02.... ![]() |
