The first Montgomery,Ala dragstrip info?

Josh, Not sure when the track was built but the first time I ran there was in '66 or early '67. As far as I remember it always ran at a 1000' except in about '74 when they had an 1/8th mile IHRA Points race. Buck Todd and Jack Daniels ran it for quite awhile and had it when IHRA was there. They always paid good money for S/SS and I made the trip over there on Friday night many times.


In '68 Montgomery had a NHRA points race at an Industrial Park, seemed like it was inside the perimeter but can't remember where. I think it was held there because Capitol City couldn't run a full quarter due to shut down area.


Later there was a drag strip west of town on the same property as the round track and it ran for a few years, probably late seventies and early eighties.
